Displayed is a 2002 Juan Gonzalez Texas Rangers' game used away jersey from the slugging outfielder's second tour of duty with the Rangers. Gonzalez played 16 Major League seasons: Texas Rangers (1989-99 & 2002-03), Detroit Tigers (2000), Cleveland Indians (2001 & 2005), Kansas City Royals (2004). Gonzalez grew up in Puerto Rico, and he obtained his nickname of "Igor" from being a fan of wrestler "Mighty Igor." Gonzalez was a 3-time All-Star, a 2-time AL MVP, a 2-time AL home run leader, and a 6-time Silver Slugger. He is most remembered for his time with the Texas Rangers, and the listed jersey was worn during the first of his two final seasons with Texas (2002-03). In the 2002 season when Gonzalez wore the listed jersey in games, he played in 70 games and batted .282 with eight homers and 35 RBIs. For his Major League career, Gonzalez batted .295 with 434 home runs and 1,404 RBIs. The offered blue knit away jersey has TEXAS on the chest, in white and silver sewn-on letters, with blue and red trim. The left sleeve has a red, white, and blue sewn-on State of Texas flag and a sewn-on Rawlings emblem. Six blue buttons run down the front. On the outside, back collar is a sewn-on MLB logo. The inside left tail has a Rawlings MLB AUTHENTIC COLLECTION manufacturer's tag with three additional hang tags: "Plus 1 inch body and 1 inch sleeve; size (52), 2002 Set 2," and a "02095" inventory number. The jersey shows nice game use. The back has a blue sewn-on nameplate with GONZALEZ in red, white, and blue sewn-on letters. Below the nameplate is "19" in white numerals with red and blue trim. Gonzalez has signed the top of the numeral "9" in his number, using a fine tip black marker. In addition, Gonzalez inscribed the bottom part of the numeral "9" by using a fine tip black marker to write, "Game Used." The jersey shows nice game use, yet it remains in EXCELLENT condition.
