A piece of ornamental railing from Roosevelt Stadium, the home of the Jersey City Giants, the AAA franchise for the New York Giants from 1937-50. The item comes from a part in the stands where three pieces of railing came together and there is an iron ornamental baseball (with seams) on top. Several coats of paint, green and red, are evident though much has worn off due to weather and age. Roosevelt Park, which hosted 15 Brooklyn Dodgers Major League games, was also known as the site of Jackie Robinson's professional baseball debut, as a member of the Montreal Royals, on April 18th, 1946. After falling into disrepair, Roosevelt Stadium was knocked down in 1985.
