Displayed is a 1952 Ty Cobb signed check that the inaugural Hall of Famer wrote for "laundry." When "The Georgia Peach" was a young man going off to play professional baseball in the minor leagues, his father decried to Ty, "Don't come back a failure." The combative young Cobb became anything but a failure. He batted a career .366, the highest lifetime average in MLB history. He won 12 AL batting crowns and at one time held the all-time MLB records for hits (4,189) and stolen bases (897). Cobb also had tremendous success financially. He got in on the ground floor as an investor in the Georgia-based Coca-Cola company and eventually made a fortune from its stock. Playing the majority of his 24-year Major League career for the Detroit Tigers, Cobb also was wise enough to heavily invest during the early years of Detroit's General Motors Company. He also made a fortune from his General Motors investments. So, a Cobb-signed check is from an all-time baseball legend as well as a financial wizard. The offered Cobb-signed check is written from the Main Office of the First National Bank of Nevada. Machine-printed on the left side of the check is "TYRUS R. COBB." Using his trademark green ink, Cobb dated the check as "July 27, [19]52." The check is written to "Ray Erickson" for the amount of "Twenty-Nine and 78/100 ($29.78)." Cobb signed the check in his usual neat, bold script as "Tyrus R. Cobb." On the subject line of the check, Cobb wrote "Laundry." The check was cashed, and it was endorsed by Ray Erickson. This Cobb signed check is in EXCELLENT condition.  Comes with PSA LOA.
