Presented is a 2003-04 Rocco Baldelli Tampa Bay Devil Rays' game worn jersey. Baldelli was a very promising First Round pick (6th overall) of Tampa Bay in the 2000 Amateur Draft whose career was troubled, and eventually ended, by channelopathy, a rare metabolic/muscular disease. Baldelli broke into the Major Leagues with Tampa Bay in 2003, and he finished in 3rd place in voting for the American League Rookie of the Year. That season he batted .286, with 11 home runs, 78 RBIs, and 27 steals, all while playing a fine center field. In 2004, he continued his success, batting .280 for the Devil Rays, with 16 homers, 74 RBIs, and 17 steals. Affected by channelopathy, Baldelli missed the entire 2005 season. He came back in 2006 to hit .302 for Tampa, with 16 homers, and an outstanding .871 OPS, but because of his illness, he achieved his stats while playing in only 92 games. After that season, his illness diminished his performance. He played a season with the Boston Red Sox, near his original home city of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and finished his career back with Tampa Bay in 2010. Then, the illness forced his playing retirement. Baldelli became a coach and then a manager with the Minnesota Twins. He was the 2019 AL Manager of the Year with the Twins, at age 38 the youngest MLB manager to ever win the award. He is currently still the manager of Minnesota, and he has won three AL Central Division titles in his nearly six seasons. The offered away jersey is gray, with blue, white, and green trim. Across the chest, TAMPA BAY is in green letters with white and green trim. Green and white piping runs down the front and encloses six silver-gray buttons. Green and white piping is at the end of each sleeve. The left sleeve has a Devil Ray patch and a Russell manufacturer's tag. The lower left tail has a Russell Athletic/MLB AUTHENTIC manufacturer's tag. Below the manufacturer's tag is a tag reading, "[size] 48/100 polyester." On the back of the collar is an MLB patch. BALDELLI is in green block letters on a gray nameplate across the back. Under the nameplate is 5 in a green numeral with white and blue trim. The jersey exhibits light wear, and it is in EXCELLENT condition.
