Two (2) game used baseballs struck by Wade Boggs for his 2,970th and 2,974th hits during the 1999 season. The 2,970th hit ball is an Official American League Ball (Budig) that has been signed by Boggs and inscribed, "Hit #2,970, 7/1/99." The 2,974th hit ball is also an American League ball and has been signed by Boggs and inscribed, "Hit #2,974, 7/5/99." Both of the balls were purchased directly from Boggs and have been verified by PSA. One of the great hitters of his era, Boggs was a 5-time American League batting champion who would compile 3,010 hits over the course of his career. He was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.
