Collection of seventeen vintage news photos capturing members of the Detroit Pistons dating from the club's first 1987-88 playoff run that culminated in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. This collection originates from the archives of the Detroit Free Press and features many memorable images of Detroit's fabled "Bad Boys" of the hardwood. All the photographs were taken during the postseason and bear the date of each game on the reverse. The majority also include written identifications of the player/players pictured. Ten photos are black-and-white and the remainder are color. Thirteen measure 8x10 inches, with the other four ranging from 4.5x9 to 7.25x10 inches. One of the color photos is affixed to a cardboard backing. The majority display editorial markings and/or news captions on the front; otherwise they remain in Excellent condition overall. Among the players featured, many more than once, are Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Dennis Rodman, Kevin McHale, Bill Lambier. Many great action shots are featured here, including Dennis Rodman getting ejected from 1988 ECF Finals game after fighting Danny Ainge and multiple players being held back from fighting during games. The vast majority of the photos are from the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics.
