Displayed is a 1936-39 Bob Feller rookie era single-signed Official American League Ball (Harridge), one of the earliest known Feller single-signed balls. The Hall of Fame right-hander played 17 seasons in the Major Leagues, all for the Cleveland Indians (1936-41 & 1945-56). In his rookie '36 season, Feller was only 17 years old, and he appeared in 14 games, with a 5-3 record and a 3.34 ERA. He was soon famous for his legendary fastball. Feller missed three seasons during World War II when he was serving in the U. S. Navy and saw extensive combat in the South Pacific as the leader of a gun crew aboard a battleship. Feller had a lifetime 266-162 record, with a 3.25 ERA. He had 44 shutouts, and when he retired, he was in third place on the all-time Major League strikeout list with 2,581. He threw three no-hitters and was a key member of the 1948 Cleveland World Champions. The ball has some very small spots in which pieces of the "skin" have come off, and the ball exhibits darkening. A light coat of shellac has been applied. Overall, the ball is in good condition. Feller signed the ball in steel-tip fountain pen in black ink on the sweet spot. The autograph rates a strong 7.5/10. The ball comes with a JSA LOA.
