The baseball Barry Bonds hit for his 711th career home run in 2006. The San Francisco Giants outfielder hit the home run on April 26th against the New York Mets and the ball was caught by fan Barry Mau, who has kept it in his collection up until now. Mau has included a Letter of Authenticity with the lot. Also included with the lot is a copy of the Portland Oregonian newspaper from May 20th, 2006, which features an article about Mau catching the famed ball. This is an impressive piece of memorabilia from Bonds' chase of both Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron. Bonds would pass Babe Ruth on May 28th, 2006. The Giants slugger would pass Hank Aaron the next season, hitting his 756th home run on August 7th, 2007. Upon his retirement, Bonds had hit 762 career home runs which remains the all-time record.
