1945 restaurant menu, issued by the Town Tavern in Bronxville, New York, signed on the reverse by Babe Ruth, Dazzy Vance, Hal Newhouser, and seven other former Major League players. This piece has a unique provenance. Our consignor's father was a prominent New York City sports editor and was good friends with many professional athletes. As our consignor relates, the signers of this program were all his father's pals and they often met for dinner and then went bowling. This program was signed at one of their dinner outings and has been in his family since that time. All the signatures have been scripted in blue or black fountain pen and grade 9/10 overall. The remaining signatures on the menu are those of Ralph Branca, Hank Borowy, Eddie Mayo, Jack Salveson, Steve Gromek, Andy Karl, and Jim McDonnell. The menu (8.5x11") displays a large diagonal crease in the lower right corner (not affecting any signatures), as well as light creasing throughout. Very Good condition overall. Full LOA from PSA.
