Displayed is a Shaquille O'Neal limited edition replica gold record display commemorating his gold record rap recording of (I Know I Got) Skillz from the album Shaq Diesel. O'Neal, listed at 7'1" and 325 lbs., played center in the NBA for six different teams from 1992-2011. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer was a 4-time NBA Champion, (three championships with the Los Angeles Lakers), the 1999-2000 NBA MVP, a 3-time Finals MVP, and a 3-time NBA Playoff MVP. He averaged 23.7 PPG during his NBA career, with 10.9 TRB and 2.3 BPG. As a rapper, Shaq's debut album, Shaq Diesel, was released by Jive Records in 1993. The album reached Number 25 on the Billboard 200 and Number 10 on Rhythm & Blues/Hip-Hop Album. The single from that album, Shaq Diesel, reached Number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, Number 20 on Rhythm & Blues/Hip-Hop Songs, and Number 3 on Rap Songs. Shaq has had four studio albums, two compilation albums, and 19 singles. In addition, he has recorded two soundtrack albums. Attractively matted and framed at 18.25x24.25", the display is Number 196/1993 (the year of the album's release). The display is composed of three elements: 1) The gold-colored record itself, with a diameter of approx. 11.75". The center of the record depicts Shaq, his arms spread high and wide. In part, the record reads, "Shaq/Jive/(c) 1993." 2) A 1.25x1.25" depiction of the album cover, which reads, "Shaquille O'Neal (I Know I Got) Skillz/SHAQ." There are stains, most likely from sunlight, on this simulated record cover. 3) A plaque measuring approx. 2x7.25" reading, "SHAQUILLE O'NEAL (I KNOW I GOT) Skillz/Limited Edition 196/1993." Shaq is now a ubiquitous, multi-media personality whose fame and outgoing nature have made him larger than life. The limited-edition display has terrific cross-over appeal. The offering, aside from the previously mentioned cover stains, is in excellent condition.
