Displayed is an April 8, 1974, Atlanta Braves' ticket stub from the game when Hank Aaron's 715th home run passed Babe Ruth. Aaron tied Ruth as Baseball's All-Time Home Run King when Hammerin' Hank blasted number 714 at Cincinnati on the Atlanta Braves Opening Day of the Season. A crowd of 53,775 was at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium to see Aaron hit number 715. Aaron came up for his second at bat of the game in the bottom of the 4th inning with the Los Angeles starting pitcher, left-hander Al Downing, on the mound. The Braves were down 3-1 and Darrell Evans was on first base, having reached on an error. Braves announcer Milo Hamilton described the action: "He's still at 714. Here's the pitch by Downing. Swinging. There's a long drive to left-center field. That ball is gonna be...outta here! It's gone! It's 715. There's a new home run champ of all time, and it's Henry Aaron." Atlanta eventually won the game, 7-4. The Braves superstar finished his career back in Milwaukee, where he had started it with the Braves. This time he was with the Milwaukee Brewers. Aaron finished with 755 lifetime home runs, but his most important blast was the one on April 8, 1974 - the shot that put his homer total past that of Ruth. The offered stub measures 2x3.4". In part, the ticket, priced at $3.00 for an upper level seat, reads, "ATLANTA STADIUM/Opening Night/Braves vs Los Angeles/Mon April 8 1974 8:05 PM." The ticket stub has been encapsulated and PSA graded STUB EX-MT 6(MK).
