Presented are copies of a signed 1994 lease agreement, and related documentation, between Hall of Famer Willie Mays and Kindle Ford L/M of Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey, for a New Lincoln Town Car. Mays listed a Ridgewood, New Jersey, address on the lease agreement. Willie Mays, known, particularly in his younger playing days as "the Say Hey Kid," passed away at his home in Palo Alto California on June 18, 2024. The day before his passing, he had released a statement explaining that he was regrettably unable to attend the long-waited MLB game at Rickwood Field, in Birmingham, Alabama, featuring the San Francisco Giants versus the St. Louis Cardinals in an official NL game celebrating the Negro Leagues. Mays had played in the Negro American League for the Birmingham Black Barons in Birmingham before signing with the New York Giants organization. Many baseball pundits believe that Mays, with 660 home runs and possessed of marvelous five-tool skills, was the best baseball player in history. The offering includes copies of the auto lease agreement that Mays received. The signatures that appear on these papers are carbon copies. Mays actually signed the originals, and these offered documents were the copies that were underneath the originals: 1) The Net (Closed End) Lease (two copies included) for the rented Lincoln. It measures 8.5x19" and is two-sided. Mays paid $2825.90 at inception, and he agreed to make 24 monthly payments of $592.00. The agreement allows Mays to drive for 30,000 miles over two years, with an excess mileage charge of 11 cents per mile. The carbon of Mays' signature is at the bottom of each of these documents. 2) A Ford Motor Credit Company Request For Leased Vehicle Insurance (two copies). This document covers 12/31/94 to 12/31/95 and there is no carbon of Mays' signature on either of the two copies of the document. 3) Two identical copies of vehicle servicing owed to Mays. Dated 12/31/94 and with no carbon signatures from Mays. 4) Three identical copies of an odometer disclosure statement for the vehicle. Each has a carbon Mays signature. 5) A 4.1x9.5" envelope with a machine-stamped return address of Kindle Ford-Mercury-Lincoln-Dodge in Cape May Courthouse, NJ. The envelope contains a 5.8x8.3" carbon of Willie Mays' delivery receipt for the Lincoln. At the bottom is a carbon Mays signature; a 6x13.75" copy of a temporary registration for Mays to use while driving the automobile. This contains a carbon of a Mays signature. Many of the aforementioned documents contain neat fold lines.
