A letter from the Boston Braves to Joe Bihler, part of Babe Ruth's management team. The letter was concerning the pay for Ruth's final season. After being released by the Yankees in 1934, Ruth would sign with the Boston Braves for the 1935 season for $25,000 to act as a player and Assistant Manager. Ruth would only play in 28 games for the Braves, hitting .181 and deciding to retire partway into the season. The player also realized that his position as assistant manager was more of a publicity stunt than an actual role. The letter concerns a salary dispute between the player's agent and the Braves' John O'Leary, likely the team's replacement secretary. The item is printed on Boston Braves stationery, and the names of Ruth, former secretary Edmund Cunningham, and former owner Emil Fuchs have been crossed out. The letter is from the estate of Bihler.
