Presented are press pins to the 1961 and 1962 NBA All-Star games. 1) 1961: The white tin pin, with purple lettering and numbering, has a circumference of 2.25". Machine-printed on the front is "ELEVENTH ANNUAL N.B.A. ALL STAR GAME SYRACUSE OFFICIAL JAN. 17, 1961." The 1961 All-Star Game was held at the Onondaga County War Memorial Coliseum before a crowd of 8,016. The West, coached by Paul Seymour, defeated the East, coached by Red Auerbach, 153-131. The MVP of the game was Cincinnati Royals' Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson, playing for the West, scoring 23 points and just missing a triple-double as he added nine rebounds and 14 assists. Hall of Famer Bob Pettit, of the St. Louis Hawks, led the West in scoring with 29 points. For the East, Hall of Fame center Bill Russell led his team in points with 24, and Hall of Fame forward Dolph Schayes, of the host Syracuse Nationals, added 21 points. 2) 1962: The white tin pin, with blue lettering and numbering, has a circumference of 2.25". Machine-printed on the front is "12th ANNUAL NBA All STAR GAME OFFICIAL ST. LOUIS, MO. JAN.16, 1962." The West won over the East, 150-130. Red Auerbach of the Boston Celtics coached the East, and the Los Angeles Lakers' Fred Schaus coached the West. The game was held at Kiel Auditorium before a crowd of 15,112. Forward Bob Pettit of the host St. Louis Hawks was the MVP as he scored 25 points and grabbed 27 rebounds for the winners, and Los Angeles Lakers' forward Elgin Baylor helped the West with 32 points. Wilt Chamberlain, the Philadelphia Warriors' center, had a tremendous game for the East as he scored 42 points, with 24 rebounds. Each of the pins lacks an individual number insert in the front. Both pins show some wear, with some light staining on front in places. The two pins make a fine, vintage offering.
