Presented is a completed and signed American League Uniform Player's Contract between Ralph McCabe and the Cleveland Indians. McCabe was a 6'4" right-handed pitcher from Ontario, Canada. During World War II he played in the minor leagues. The Uniform Player's Contract measures 8.5x11" and consists of four pages. The typed-in amount of the contract is "$600.00 per month." There is a special provision that if the player is retained on the after list on or after July 1st that "...the player will receive $700.00 per month from the start of the 1946 American League season." McCabe did play for the Cleveland Indians later that year, appearing in one game as a starter and taking the loss. That was his only Major League appearance. The contract is signed in blue fountain pen by Will Harridge, the President of the American League. It is also signed by McCabe in black fountain, and by Roger Peckinpaugh, the Cleveland vice-president, in blue fountain. At one point, the contact was folded into thirds for mailing, and the folds remain. Overall, the contract is in excellent condition. The contract comes with a PSA LOA for the signature.
