Vintage news photo of Cleveland Browns Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown used in the production of Brown's 1958 Topps rookie card. This photo of Brown running on the field was taken by the Cleveland Browns' staff photographer Henry Barr at the Cleveland Browns' training facility on the campus of Hiram College in Ohio. Barr took the shot lying on the ground, which allowed for the perspective seen here, and in doing so created one of the most iconic images of the legendary running back. Original Type I photos of this rookie-card image are exceedingly rare, making the offered example the next best alternative for most collectors. Two date stamps appear on the reverse (1957 Sep 27, and Sep 29 1957), along with handwritten editorial notations and a partial newspaper clipping featuring the news caption used for this image. The photo (6.5x8.5") displays a small area of surface paper loss along the front border and light creases. Encapsulated by PSA as Type III Authentic.
