Spalding "Babe Ruth Home Run Special" baseball signed by Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron. Graded EX 5 by PSA (The Ruth signature has been graded VG 3 and the Aaron signature has been graded NM-MT 8; the ball has been graded VG-EX 4; resulting in an overall ball grade of EX 5). Ruth's signature has been scripted in black fountain pen and sits upon the sweet spot. Aaron has signed the ball in blue ink on the panel directly above Ruth's signature.

This ball has a unique provenance and is accompanied by a one-page typed signed letter from the consignor detailing its history. Our consignor's great aunt was a nurse in a New York hospital. Ruth was at the hospital often because he liked to visit the sick children and lift their spirits. During one of those visits, the aunt was lucky enough to obtain Ruth's signature on this ball. After the aunt passed away, the ball was handed down through the family. When Hank Aaron broke Ruth's career home run record in 1974, our consignor's father decided to get Aaron's signature on the ball as well, which he did sometime in the mid-to-late 1970s.

Many fans still consider Aaron the true home run champion and for that reason balls signed by Ruth and Aaron, in addition to being scarce, are also highly desirable. Another factor to consider is that if a collector wants a ball signed by all four players in the "700 Home Run Club" (which, to the best of our knowledge, has never been accomplished), this ball would be one of the few available examples that could be used for that purpose.
