Original Type I photograph capturing the 1937 World Champion New York Yankees in a classic team pose at Yankee Stadium. Thirty-one team members are pictured, including Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Tony Lazzeri, Bill Dickey, manager Joe McCarthy, Lefty Gomez, Red Ruffing, Red Rolfe, Frank Crosetti, and Tommy Henrich. An original newspaper clipping featuring this very image, date-stamped "Dec 26 1937," has been affixed to the reverse. The New York Yankees won 102 games in 1937, finishing thirteen games in front of the Detroit Tigers. They then steamrollered their crosstown rivals, the New York Giants, in the World Series to capture their second consecutive World Championship, en route to a then-record four consecutive World Championships. The photo (9x7"), which offers exceptional clarity, displays a tack hole in the upper left and lower left corners, as well as a tiny edge tear along the right border.
