A 17x17" glass etched Maurice "Rocket" Richard clear glass plaque that once hung at the Hockey Hall of Fame and was removed during renovations. Honoring one of hockey's all-time greats, the item reads: "The first player to score 50 goals in a single season, the Rocket was the first NHL player to score 500 career goals. He was also one of the game's greatest playoff performers, scoring six overtime playoff goals in his career. He was the first NHL player to register two hat tricks in the Stanley Cup finals and played on eight Stanley Cup-winning teams." The 1/2" thick plaque also features an acid-etched headshot of Richard and the same statement written in French. The right wing, who played his entire career (1942-60) with the Montreal Canadiens, was the sport's first icon. Upon his 1960 retirement, the NHL decreed that Richard was so important to the sport that they waived the 5-year waiting period to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and he was honored in 1961. While many of the records he held in the sport have since been broken, Richard still stands as one of the most influential players in hockey, and players like Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe have discussed his impact. This item is one of a kind and offers an incredible opportunity to own a unique piece of memorabilia from a player who belongs on hockey's Mount Rushmore.
