Presented is a group of six (6) 1950s-60s St. Louis Hawks' signed, all original, Type I photos. The approx. 8x10", black & white photos: Clyde Lovellette, center; Johnny McCarthy, point guard; Dave Piontek, small forward; Woody Sauldsberry, power; forward Fred LaCour, small forward; Al Ferrari, shooting guard. All of the foregoing players were members of the 1960-61 St. Louis Hawks team that won the regular season NBA Western Conference Championship and were defeated 4-1 in games in that season's NBA Finals by the Boston Celtics. Lovellette, a Naismith Memorial Hall of Famer, was a 6'9" center-forward who averaged 22.0 PPG that season, with 10.1 TRB. Sauldsberry was a former member of the Harlem Globetrotters who was drafted in the 8th Round of the 1957 NBA Draft, and he wound up as the 1957-58 NBA Rookie of the Year, the second African American to win that honor and the lowest draft choice to ever become an NBA Rookie of the Year. Each photo is stamped on the back with St. Louis Hawks and the player's name. The period signatures rate 9/10 overall.
