1986-89 Andy Van Slyke game used bat is an uncracked Louisville Slugger model C243 with nice use shown. Black bat has number 49 painted on the knob in white, weighs 32 ounces and measures 33.75"; use includes pine tar residue on the handle, with wear and some checking (grain swelling) noted on the barrel. After playing his first four seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, Van Slyke made his name playing outfield/first base for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and this specimen likely dates from early in that tenure. He was a three-time all-star, five-time Gold Glove winner, and two-time Silver Slugger recipient in his eight seasons with the Bucs.
