Displayed is a 1970 NBA Finals Game 7 ticket stub from the game between the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers on May 8th at New York's Madison Square Garden when the Knicks' injured Willis Reed helped the team claim the franchise's first championship. Reed, a Hall of Fame center, tore a muscle in his right thigh in Game 5 of the Finals. He sat out Game 6, won by the Lakers as Wilt Chamberlain took advantage of Reed's absence to score 36 points and grab 27 rebounds. Reed was thought to not be able to play in Game 7, but he took painkillers in his thigh and made a dramatic entrance to the court during pregame warmups. Reed started the game and hit his first two shots. Although he finished with only four points and three rebounds, Reed's inspiration and his solid defense on Chamberlain were major factors in the Knicks' win. Walt Frazier had a tremendous game for the Knicks, scoring 36 points and notching 19 assists as the Knicks prevailed, 113-99. The ticket stub measures approx. 1.75x2.3". It is for a playoff "Game 11" for a $7.50 2nd Promenade seat. The stub has been encapsulated and PSA graded as GOOD 2(MK).
