Presented is an all original 1990 Gary Carter San Francisco Giants game worn uniform, signed on the waistband of the pants by the Hall of Famer. Known as "The Kid" for his always youthful enthusiasm and all-out play, catcher Gary Carter played 19 Major League seasons: Montreal Expos (1974-84 & 1992), New York Mets (1985-89), San Francisco Giants (1990), Los Angeles Dodgers (1991). Carter had good power, with 324 homers, and was an expert at handling a pitching staff, winning three Gold Gloves. He was an 11-time All-Star and helped to lead the Mets to the '86 World Championship. In 1990, Carter played his lone season for the San Francisco Giants. He played in 92 games, batting .254, with nine home runs and 27 RBIs. The offered uniform was given by Carter to a friend in the sports collectibles business. The offered uniform consists of a jersey and pants, both in home white with orange and black trim. The short-sleeved jersey has "GIANTS" across the chest, in sewn-on black letters with orange trim. Six silver/white buttons run down the front. The right sleeve sports an embroidered Rawlings, signifying the manufacturer. The left inside front tail has two tags: A Rawlings manufacturer's tag showing the size as "44." Next to the manufacturer's tag is a sewn-on strip tag reading "8-90 SET 1." The back has a sewn-on nameplate with "CARTER" in black, sewn-on block letters with orange trim. Beneath the nameplate is 8 in a black sewn-on numeral with orange trim. The pants have a Rawlings manufacturer's tag on the back of the inner elastic belt. There is also a tag on the back elastic which reads, "8 36-38 27." Next to that is a flag tag reading "SET 1 1990." Carter has signed the back elastic, using a fine tip black marker. Next to the signature, inscribed by an unknown hand in fine tip black marker is "#8 1990." Above the left, rear pants pocket is an "R" for Rawlings. The pants have a working zipper above which is a button. The pants show great wear, with team repairs on the right leg, at about mid-thigh level. The pants show use, including mild dirt stains on the collar where the chest protector straps would be. The uniform comes with a PSA/DNA LOA for the signature (Cert. #AN05497).
