St. Louis Cardinals home jersey worn by outfielder Willie McGee during the 1988 season. The white knit jersey features "Cardinals" embroidered across the front, above which is the club's familiar logo of two cardinals perched upon opposite ends of a baseball bat. The number 51 is displayed both on the left breast and reverse. "McGee" is lettered on the reverse, directly above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in red on navy tackle twill. Located on the interior left front tail are a "Rawlings 44" label and an adjacent flag tag reading "Set 1 1988." Signed by McGee in black marker on the reverse numeral 5 (grading 1/10; heavily faded). The jersey is original as issued and displays moderate-to-heavy wear, including fraying to some of the stitching. McGee batted .292 with 3 home runs, 50 RBI, and 41 stolen bases in 1988. A former National League MVP and batting champion, McGee retired after the 1999 season with 79 home runs, 856 RBI, 352 stolen bases, and a .295 lifetime average.
