When it comes to the New York Yankees' legacy, there's a lot of legacy to be had after more than 120 years and a Major League record 27 World Championships. From 1903 until the present, the Yankee pantheon has been filled with stars who became celebrities, even to non-baseball fans. Displayed is a Robert Stephen Simon color 30x30" print on canvas titled "The Yankee Legacy," a cheerful display of over 60 New York Yankees players, managers, owners and announcers. Depicted in the center of the print is Yankee Stadium, with Babe Ruth hugging Lou Gehrig, showing their long-time feud was over. Near the Stadium is Mickey Mantle, not slugging a homer, but laying down a bunt, as he would sometimes do when in his youthful prime as perhaps the fastest man in baseball. Near the depiction of Yankee Stadium is Hall of Famer Yogi Berra, leaping into the arms of Don Larsen after the tall right-hander's perfect game in the 1956 World Series. Above the frieze high atop Yankee Stadium are players such as Don Mattingly, Roy White, Hall of Famer Wade Boggs, and manager Ralph Houk. Below the frieze is the interlocking NY of the New York Yankees logo. Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio, Whitey Ford, Tony Lazzeri, Phil Rizzuto, Reggie Jackson, and Derek Jeter are displayed. Also shown is the first Yankees African American player - Elston Howard. Hall of Fame managers, Casey Stengel, Joe McCarthy and Joe Torre are in the picture. So is announcer Mel Allen, winner of a Frick Award for broadcasting, owner George Steinbrenner, Luis Tiant, Lou Piniella, Hank Bauer and many, many more. The canvas print is a limited-edition print, #30 of 30. The print is in excellent condition. It has a 1999 copyright date imprinted near the bottom center, and the print has been signed in black marker by the artist, Robert Stephen Simon.
