Spectacular 1960 Roberto Clemente Pittsburgh Pirates World Championship year game worn jersey comes with full SGC authentication book. A highly important piece, this gray vest-style button-front top has MacGregor size 42 tag in the collar and "60" felt year tag inside front tail along with Set 2 1960 flag tag. PIRATES on front and 21 on back - in black-on-yellow felt - are 100% original, and some of the felt is partially separated from the jersey but has been professionally stabilized and does not hinder the appearance; note that the separation is from wear and washing, not abuse. Some of the piping around the shoulders and neck were worn and some missing - the worn or missing areas were restored with period pipping from an original Pirates jersey. Also, some of the buttons have been replaced with period examples, again, from a period Pirates jersey; all buttons match. Other than the piping and the buttons, this shirt is otherwise original as Clemente wore it during that most famous of years, batting .314 with 94 RBI to lead the Bucs to a 95-59-1 record and the National League pennant. He proceeded to bat .310 in the World Series as Pittsburgh topped the New York Yankees in 7 games to complete one of the most successful seasons in Pirates history. Jersey has received a grade of EXCELLENT from Dave Grob of SGC, the second-highest grade attainable, with Super being the highest. In the included hardcover authentication book. Tremendous piece from the year in which Roberto Clemente began to solidify his Hall of Fame credentials.
