Art Ceccarelli was a 6'0", 190 lbs. left-hander who pitched for parts of five seasons in the Major Leagues: Kansas City Athletics (1955-56), Baltimore Orioles (1957), Chicago Cubs (1959-60). Offered is a 1957 Art Ceccarelli Baltimore Orioles' all original, game used, gray short-sleeved away jersey. Ceccarelli signed as a bonus player with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1948. Before reaching the Major Leagues, his career was interrupted by his three years of service in the military during the Korean Conflict. Both a starter and reliever, his Major League record was 9-18, with a 5.05 ERA. In '57, when the offered jersey was game used, Ceccarelli had a record of 0-5, with a 4.50 ERA. His best career game was in 1959, with the Chicago Cubs when he pitched ten shutout innings and became the only left-hander to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers' Sandy Koufax in the Los Angeles Coliseum. The offered jersey has "Baltimore" in sewn-on orange script, with black trim, across the chest. Below the team's name is 16 in sewn-on orange numerals with black trim. The left sleeve has the Orioles logo. A working zipper runs down the front. A sewn-on gray tag in the collar reads "57 [year], 16 [number] 44 [size]. On the lower left outside tail is a sewn-on Spalding manufacturer's tag that has some loose stitching. On back is a sewn-on 16 in orange numerals with black trim. There is a team repair on the lower left front. The jersey shows good use, with a few tiny, faint stains and fraying at the collar. It's a nice example of a 1950s Orioles vintage jersey.
