Great look at the evolution of the football helmet in this game used circa 1950s Notre Dame Fighting Irish lid. Gold/mustard leather suspension helmet has crossed black stripe design with heavy duty plastic and leather padding inside; though it has no facemask, this is a large upgrade from the early generations of leather helmets. Also, model H612 is stamped on the back; facemasks began to be more widely utilized in the mid-'50s and, in fact, MacGregor also sold model H612 helmets with masks, so this may be among the last of its kind. Original ad when this was sold in the 1990s claims it is from 1953, though we have no way of proving the exact year. Shows nice use with scuff marks but remains in very nice condition, chin strap is missing. Stamped with MacGregor on the front and back - size 7 1/8 - 7 1/4 stamped on bottom back of black strip.
