Vintage photograph capturing Wilt Chamberlain during his historic 1959 rookie season with the Philadelphia Warriors. The publicity shot pictures a young woman throwing up the ball for the tip-off between Chamberlain and Detroit's Walter Dukes. The original paper news caption, dated 11-11-59, remains affixed to the reverse, which describes the scene. In part: "Dixie Qualset, 21, of Omaha, Neb., acts as 'Referee' prior to start of Detroit-Philadelphia pro basketball game here Nov. 11. Dixie was visiting Detroit as 'Miss Youth Fitness." A "United Press International Photo" credit stamp also appears on the reverse. This photo was printed in 1959 but was transmitted by wire to various news outlets. As such, it has been designated as a Type III example by PSA. The photo (7x9") displays a light diagonal crease in the lower left corner and is otherwise in Excellent condition.
