Incredible and impactful resume of the famous 1968 Olympic medalist John Carlos, who along with Tommie Smith, gave the "Black Power Salute" at the 1968 Olympics. In this "resume," Carlos not only offers the typical type qualifications, but he includes more than a dozen original photographs, a contact sheet with 21 additional images, and letters to detail what he has accomplished on and off the track. The most important pieces included here are: 1) Three important photographs related to the '68 Olympics: one depicting Carlos participating in a rally at Howard University just eight days after being banned from the 1968 Olympics, along with students giving "Black Power" salute. Another showing Carlos winning the opening heat for the 200m dash in the 1968 Olympics, one day before the famous "Black Power Salute." The other depicts Tommie and John being escorted off a plane five days after their Olympic victories. 2) Handwritten and signed letter by Arthur Ashe to John, accepting a position on the Advisory Council for the John Carlos Youth Development League. Includes multiple photos of Ashe with John. 3) Front page formal "Resume of Qualifications" breakdown of Carlos' personal data, hobbies, education, and professional background. 4) Pink page which appears to be a death threat from 1981. 5) Twenty-five additional original photographs, mostly of him running and some with Team USA AAU team. 6) Numerous letters including a letter from Harry Henry mentioning the Mexico Olympics, a letter dated 1977 from friend "Stoffie," and a letter from Sugar Ray Robinson's Youth Foundation.
