Before they became the "Swingin' A's" dynasty in Oakland with three straight championships from 1972-74, "colorful" owner Charles O. Finley was already known in the sport for his showmanship before the team's move from Kansas City. In 1963, Charlie O first made the change of the team colors to a green base, and this Louisville Slugger was clearly made to recognize that switch. Model K55 (popularized by none other than Mickey Mantle) has been painted bright green with Finley's replica signature on the barrel in gold leaf, and Kansas City Athletics stamped in gold leaf between the trademark and barrel. Rare piece from one of baseball's great innovators.
