Official American League (Barnard) baseball signed in black fountain pen by the following sixteen members of the 1928 World Champion New York Yankees: Ruth (sweet spot), Gehrig, Huggins (Mgr.), Hoyt, Dickey, Pennock, Combs, Lazzeri, Collins, Koenig, Meusel, Dugan, Heimach, Robertson, Pipgras, and Johnson. This ball is particularly noteworthy because it includes the signature of manager Miller Huggins, which is seldom found on team balls. Huggins' signature is also scarce in any form because he died one year later at the age of fifty-one. The year, "1928," is written in black fountain pen (unknown hand) on the sweet spot, directly above Ruth's signature. That date is confirmed by the fact that this style OAL ball was produced only in 1928. The 1927-1928 New York Yankees are considered one of the greatest dynasties in baseball history, a reputation affirmed by the club's back-to-back sweep of the Pirates and Cardinals, respectively, in the 1927 and 1928 World Series. Signatures range from 2/10 to 6/10, averaging 4/10. The ball displays moderate soiling, but all the manufacturer's labels remain clearly legible. Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from PSA.
