Team photo capturing fifteen members of the University of Chicago ("Maroons") baseball team, circa 1910, including head coach Amos Alonzo Stagg. Each member of the club is pictured in uniform, with the exception of Stagg, as they pose together on the front steps of a campus building. The photographer's name ("Martyn") is written in black ink in the lower right corner, while the studio's credit stamp ("Martyn's Maroon Studio") appears on the reverse. Although Stagg is best known today as one of greatest coaches in college football history, he also coached the baseball, basketball, and track teams at during his forty-two year tenure at the University of Chicago (1892-1933). Specifically, Stagg was the baseball coach from 1892-1905, and then again from 1907-1913. The crystal-clear photo (13.5x10.5") has been affixed to a heavy cardboard mount of equal dimensions. Aside from a few slight border chips the photo remains in Excellent to Mint condition.
