Large-format Fatima tobacco premium featuring the 1913 World Champion Philadelphia Athletics. The Fatima large-format team prints, which were nearly identical to the company's T200 team cards, are exceedingly rare today due to their method of distribution: they could be obtained only by redeeming forty coupons from cigarette packs. That fact, coupled with their fragile nature has made them one of the most elusive of all tobacco premiums. The photo, which is credited to the "Pictorial News Co." in the lower right corner, pictures twenty-four team members, including manager Connie Mack, Frank Baker, Eddie Collins, Chief Bender, Eddie Plank, Jack Barry, Rube Oldring, and Wally Schang. Each player is identified in print either along the base or top border. The premium (18x10.75"; visible dimensions), displays a heavy diagonal crease in the lower right corner. Also, there has been color touch up, either in pencil or ink, to the areas below the cap brims to most of the players in the top row, as well as Connie Mack's hair, Eddie Collins' belt, and a few lighter creases along the base. Despite those condition anomalies, aside from the crease in the right corner, the print displays as Excellent to Mint and is a fine representative example of this seldom-seen premium. Matted and framed to total dimensions of 25x17". Please note: the size and/or weight of this lot will necessitate an increased shipping charge.
