Rare Nike advertising poster issued in 1971 to promote the company's line of basketball sneakers. This is the first advertising poster to feature the company's new name and now iconic "Swoosh" logo. (The company changed its name from Blue Ribbon Sports to Nike in 1971 and the "Swoosh" logo was first introduced on June 18, 1971.) The poster features an action shot of Portland Trailblazers Co-Rookie of the Year Geoff Petrie, with the Nike logo pictured prominently in the upper right corner. There were two versions of this poster, one in yellow and the other in blue. This, obviously, is the blue version and represents the first example of either color we have offered. The poster (20.5x38") displays minor edge and corner wear, as well as light surface wrinkles. In Excellent condition overall. Please note: the size and/or weight of this lot will necessitate an increased shipping charge.
