Ordinary-looking pair of spiral notebooks with exceptional contents; autographs of the opponents in football's "Greatest Game Ever Played." Dating from the 1958 NFL Championship classic between the New York Giants and Baltimore Colts, signatures were obtained on the day of the game (December 28) with each 6x4.25" book containing one team. Red book has 37 Colts autographs, including: Unitas, Berry, Moore, Marchetti, Donovan, and Parker. Most are written directly on the pages in blue ballpoint pen; a page containing Sample and Lyles was separated and taped to a blank page, though the tape has badly discolored with age and page is no longer affixed. A page containing Billy Pricer looks to have been similarly done, though the detached autograph is not present. Green book has 39 Giants signatures, including: Huff, Gifford, Maynard, Robustelli, Lombardi, Landry, Tunnell, and Brown. Each autograph is neatly identified in pen, and there is a page with tape residue in the Giants book but there's no ID indicating that anyone is missing. Amazing piece from the Colts' 23-17 victory in a game largely credited with spearheading the sport's popularity.
