Original Type I photograph capturing Babe Ruth in uniform during the 1930 season. In this unusual image, which was taken on the road, Ruth poses with an artist who is putting the finishing touches on his clay likeness of the "Sultan of Swat." Judging by Ruth's expression, he seems less than thrilled with the artist's ability. An "Underwood & Underwood" credit stamp appears on the reverse. Although no year is listed on the photo, we have seen other images of Ruth with this statue that are dated 1930 (one is housed in the Library of Congress). The photo (7.5x9.5") displays a few border flaws, including green editorial paint and small tears, as well as an area of light adhesive residue in the lower left corner. Both adhesive and paper residue are displayed on the reverse. Encapsulated by PSA as Type I Authentic.
