Incredible use is displayed in this pair of boxing trunks, worn in training by Muhammad Ali. The style is unmistakable - plain white shorts with black stripe down each leg and black waistband, and Everlast label on the waist reading "Made Expressly for Muhammad Ali," with L-Large tag below. Per the included Craig Hamilton LOA, these were worn by The Greatest in 1980 in training for his showdown with Larry Holmes on October 2, and it has been signed no less than three times; on the rear left leg, the front right side (inscribed June 5 - 80), and the front left side. All have faded but are still legible. The listed date narrows it to the period of the Holmes fight, which Ali lost when long-time trainer Angelo Dundee stopped the contest after the 10th round in order to protect his fighter. Enclosed letter also notes that there is additional documentation indicating that Ali donated these to a charity auction in June of 1980.
