He was known as "Stan the Man," and for good reason: Stan Musial was a marvelous Hall of Famer who played 22 Major League seasons, all with the St. Louis Cardinals. Presented is a beautiful Stan Musial signed flannel St. Louis Cardinals jersey. The left-handed hitting outfielder and first baseman had an unusual peek-a-boo style of batting stance in which he peeked over his left bicep as he prepared for the pitch. Meanwhile, Musial was ready to think, and think fast. "I consciously memorized the speed at which every pitcher in the league threw his fastball, curve and slider," said Musial. "Then I'd pick up the speed of the ball in its first thirty feet of flight and know how it would move once it crossed the plate." Stan's technique worked. He was a 7-time National League batting champion, a 3-time NL MVP, and a 3-time World Series winner. He batted .331 lifetime and had 3,360 hits. The offered jersey is a modern reproduction of the flannel jerseys of Musial's playing years. It is made by Mitchell & Ness, of Philadelphia, PA, famous manufacturers of vintage-like jerseys. A Mitchell & Ness manufacturer's tag is in the neck. On the left sleeve is a red, white, and blue "HEALTH" patch. The white, home jersey has the iconic Cardinals emblem: the two red, yellow and blue Cardinal birds perched on opposite ends of a navy-blue baseball bat. On the left outside waist is a "Cooperstown Collection" patch. There is a working zipper down the center front. There is red trim on the sleeves, down the front center, and around the neck. On back is the number "6," in red with navy-blue trim. Musial has signed the jersey, using a fine tip marker, in neat, big and bold script. There is a small, stray line, in marker, under the end of his last name. The jersey is in EXCELLENT condition. Always gracious, Musial was "the Man" both on and off the field, and his signed jersey is a wonderful keepsake from a baseball immortal.
