Presented is the opportunity to possess a PSA POP 1, NONE HIGHER ticket stub to the January 27, 1984. Edmonton Oilers home game at Northlands Coliseum against the New Jersey Devils when Wayne Gretzky set the NHL record, which still stands, by scoring a point in 51 consecutive games. Gretzky scored at 16:11 in the first period on assists from Glenn Anderson and goalie Grant Fuhr to reach the new record, which he had been doing for weeks as he continually kept breaking his own record, which had stood at 30 games, night after night. In the Oliers next game, on January 29th at home against the Los Angeles Kings, Gretzky's streak was finally broken. Gretzky had a tremendous 1983-84 season as he scored 87 goals and added 118 assists for a league-leading 205 points. The Oilers, under coach Glen Sather, went on to a 57-18-5 regular season record and a Stanley Cup victory, 4-1 in games, over the New York Islanders. In part, the ticket stub reads, "Oilers/Friday Jan.27, 1984/7:30 p.m. New Jersey Devils/BLUE 14.00/GAME 23." The stub measures approx. 1.25x3.8". The stub has been encapsulated and PSA graded PR 1. Gretzky's 51-game scoring streak has been favorably compared in many venues to the all-time baseball consecutive game hitting streak of 56 by Joe DiMaggio. This POP 1, NONE HIGHER offering makes a great hockey remembrance for one of its greatest all-time stars.
