In 1956, the Cincinnati Reds finished the regular season with a 91-63-1 record, which placed them third in the National League standings. That year’s club was known for its powerful lineup of home run sluggers, which included Frank Robinson (38), Wally Post (36), Ted Kluszewski (35), Gus Bell (29), and Ed Bailey (28). By season’s end, the Reds had clubbed a single-season team record 221 home runs. Offered here is a 14k gold ring that reads “Cincinnati Reds 1956 HR Record” around the bezel with a painted red baseball diamond in the center with the numbers “221” front and center. Both shanks show a wreath, ball and bat design. This particular ring belonged to Ray “Chesty” Evans who initially served as the team’s bat boy before becoming the club’s longtime equipment manager. These rings were only given to team members and specific employees of the club. His name “RAY EVANS” is inscribed inside the ring next to the “14K” stamp. The size 10 ring weighs 14 grams. Comes with a family member’s letter detailing the ring’s provenance.
