Rare collection of forty-eight Super Bowl press pins issued from Super I (1967) to Super Bowl 50 (2016). This amazing collection originates from a former NFL employee who was present on the sidelines in an official capacity for each Super Bowl represented here. For the first five Super Bowls, no press pin was issued. Instead, the league issued tie clips for Super Bowls I and III, a charm for Super Bowl II, and patches for Super Bowls IV and V. All but the two patches are included in this lot, otherwise it represents a complete run of pins/jewelry from Super Bowl I to Super Bowl 50. The three rarest pieces, not surprisingly, are those issued for the first three Super Bowls. It must be noted that the name "Super Bowl" was not officially used until Super Bowl III. Prior to that the game was known as the NFL-AFL World Championship. 1) Super Bowl I. The 12K gold tie clasp, manufactured by Balfour, includes the two matching cufflinks, all of which are housed in their original Balfour presentation case. NM-MT. 2) Super Bowl II. 10k gold charm manufactured by Balfour. NM-MT. 3) Super Bowl II. Brass tie clasp. No manufacturer's name listed. Moderate tarnishing and light pitting on the front. VG. The remainder of the pins all average Near Mint in their condition except for Super Bowl XVI (VG).
