Just two seasons after nearly breaking the .400 plateau during the strike-shortened 1994 season, the late, great Tony Gwynn used this Rawlings Big Stick Tony Gwynn professional model bat (#297S) for batting practice duties only during the 1996 campaign. The 33-inch bat exhibits excellent use with several ball marks and stitch impressions visible on the barrel. Pine tar usage can be found on the barrel starting at about the 14" mark. Both the bat weight "30" (ounces) and "Gwynn" are written on the knob in black ink. Gwynn’s uniform number 19 is written on both the knob and the cupped top end of the barrel. Gwynn was a big believer in repetition and his batting practice exploits with this bat helped him earn his sixth N.L. batting title (.353) that season.
