In the 1950s there was no bigger rivalry in baseball than the National League’s Brooklyn Dodgers and the American League’s New York Yankees. This lot features a rare Brooklyn Dodgers pin (circa 1953) with a stamped message in Dodger Blue reading “BEAT THEM YANKS.” Measuring 3.5” in diameter, the pin features the classic illustration of the “Brooklyn Bum” in black-and-white by noted cartoonist Willard Mullin. The Bum was long considered one of baseball’s most iconic mascots. The pin shows rust on the back with some discoloration on the front.
