Presented is a ticket stub from the first no-hitter ever thrown at Yankee Stadium, an August 24, 1938, gem by Monte Pearson against the Cleveland Indians with the Yankees winning 13-0. The Pearson masterpiece was in Game 2 of a Saturday double-header before 40,959. It was the Yankees' sixth double-header in the last seven days. Pearson struck out seven and walked only two. Hitting stars for the Yankees were Tommy Heinrich and Joe Gordon. Heinrich, playing right field, was 3-for-5 with two homers and five RBIs. Gordon, at second base, was 3-for-4, with a triple, a homer, and six RBIs. Pearson pitched his no-hitter in 1:58, and he took his season record to 13-5. Also playing in the game for the Yankees were Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio and Lou Gehrig. The Yankees won the AL pennant that season and swept the Chicago Cubs in the World Series. The ticket stub measures approx. 1.3x3,25". It is for a $1.10 admission for Game No. 62. It has been encapsulated and PSA graded as VG 3(MK).
