Bill Russell is one of the most iconic figures in American sports. If there is one word to define Russell it would have to be "winner." Wherever Russell went, wins followed. In college he led the San Francisco Dons to consecutive NCAA basketball championships in 1955 and 1956. Then he captained the 1956 Olympic Basketball Team to a Gold Medal in the 1956 Olympics. He went straight to the Boston Celtics and continued his winning ways, taking the Celtics to 11 NBA Championships in his 13 seasons with the team.
Amazing original Type I photograph captures Boston Celtics center Bill Russell posing for the camera in what would eventually be the image used in the 1956 Boston Celtics Picture Pack. The earliest Bill Russell Celtics photograph we are aware of, this fine 8x10" example is crisp with a clean back that simply reads, "Bill Russell - Boston Celtics" in pencil. Better yet, this rare as hens teeth example has been signed and inscribed, "Best Wishes" by Russell in blue PSA Authenticated ink. Photograph is currently being encapsulated Type I Authentic photograph with Authentic signature by PSA.
