Displayed is a Joe DiMaggio signature on a wooden sign that was made to look vintage. The sign, measuring 15.25x35.1"x1", reads, "Baseball Fans...Meet Joe DiMaggio in the East Lobby At 5 PM." In the top right area of the sign is an approx.4.75x7.5" black and white photo of a smiling, very youthful DiMaggio in his New York Yankees uniform. The photo has been framed to 6.25x9". DiMaggio, a Hall of Fame center fielder who helped to Yankees to nine World Championships, was a 3-time AL MVP, a 2-time batting champ, and a career .325 hitter who holds the Major League record for hitting in consecutive games, at an amazing 56 in a row in 1941. DiMaggio wrote his signature on the sign with silver ink from a marker, and he signed in neat, big and bold handwriting. The sign was deliberately made to show apparent paint loss and to have a rough-hewn look about it, with some cracking and unevenness seen in the wood. The frame around the DiMaggio photo also shows some paint loss, and the whole effect is made to imply a vintage age. This is a nice item for a baseball room.
