Displayed is cut from a lined page featuring 18 autographs of the 1922 New York Yankees. The 1922 New York Yankees were just on the cusp of becoming a powerhouse. Fortified by many players from the Red Sox, including Babe Ruth, the '22 Yankees shared the Polo Grounds as a home field with the New York Giants, and the '22 Yankees had a record of 94-60 to win the second pennant in club history. Ruth hit 35 home runs and knocked in 96 runs; outfielder Bob Meusel batted .319, with 16 home runs and 88 RBIs. Frank "Home Run" Baker batted .278, with seven homers; shortstop Everett Scott batted .269; Wally Pipp hit .329 as the first baseman, and soon Pipp would have a headache, and Gehrig would play a game for him at first base and not leave the Yankee line-up for a full game for over 15 years. The pitching staff was led by Bullet Joe Bush, who had a 26-7 record, and Waite Hoyt, who went 19-12. The team was managed by Miller Huggins. The Bronx Bombers lost the World Series to their Polo Grounds Giants "roommates," 4-0-1 in games. The page has tears and uneven edges, and it measures about 3.4x5.9". The page has darkened, since it is over 100 years old. The '22 Yankees have signed the page in pencil, and most of the autographs are 7-8 of 10. Signing the book: Hall of Famers - Babe Ruth, Frank Baker, and Waite Hoyt. Plus, Wally Pipp, Bob Shawkey, Bob Meusel, Wally Schang, Carl Mays, Whitey Witt, Joe Bush, Everett Scott, Al DeVormer, Camp Skinner, Mike McNally, Elmer Smith, Norman McMillan, William Dearman (signed twice). The signatures are on both sides of the cut page. The page has been encapsulated and the included signatures have been PSA/DNA certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO. The offering includes not only Babe Ruth, but many of the core players who would form the great Yankee dynasties of the 1920s and 1930s.
