Exceedingly rare Roy Campanella advertising premium issued by Progressive Insurance, circa 1950s. This is the first example of this attractive Campanella advertising piece we have ever seen, let alone handled, making it especially desirable for both Roy Campanella and Brooklyn Dodgers collectors. The display features a large color photo of Campanella as a member of the Dodgers, with an illustrated baseball in the lower left corner bearing the printed text "Compliments of Roy Campanella and Progressive Life Insurance Co." This display is actually part of a calendar, but the lower half of the piece, which featured the tear-away calendar pages, has been removed. The printing along the remaining portion of the base reads "Progressive Life Insurance Company/Red Bank - New Jersey/Life - Accident and Health - Hospitalization Insurance." The display (8x11.5"; visible dimensions) has several light creases along the border areas, as well as a few minor abrasions, none of which detract from its overall Excellent appearance. Matted and framed (together with a descriptive card) to total dimensions of 13.25x17.25". Please note: the size and/or weight of this lot will necessitate an increased shipping charge.
