His father nicknamed Edwin Donald Snider as "Duke" because as a child Snider exhibited more than a little swagger, and he acted rather "royal." Presented is a 1950s PSA Type I that was shot for Look Magazine of Duke Snider as he is taping his bat in the dugout, most likely at Ebbets Field, since Snider is in his home Brooklyn Dodgers uniform. The photo may have been used by Look Magazine, and on the back of the photo is a Look Magazine stamp which shows Look Magazine is a Division of Cowles magazines. Snider played for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1947-62, the New York Mets in '63, and the San Francisco Giants in '64. He was a part of six Dodger pennant winners and two World Champion teams. Snider led all MLB players in RBIs in the 1950s as he knocked in 1,031 runs in the decade. From 1953-56, Snider's seasonal average was 42 home runs, 123 runs, 124 RBIs, and a .320 batting average. The 8x10" black and white photo depicts Snider smiling as he tapes his bat as he sits next to three other bats that could be his, all looking just taped. The Type I photo comes has been encapsulated and PSA certified Type I AUTHENTIC.
